SINGAPORE, December 31, 2007 — The JatrophaWorld 2008 Conference (www.futureenergyevents.com/jatropha), to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 23-24 January 2008, is being organized by Centre for Management Technology (CMT). In line with JatrophaWorld 2008’s commitment towards bringing the best expertise to discuss and analyze the Jatropha industry, and the overwhelming response to the position paper, ‘Sustainable Biodiesel Feedstock. Jatropha: A Strategic Option’, CMT has decided to open the lines for dialogue with experts in the Jatropha industry through their free webcast, “Debunking the Myths of Jatropha”.
To be held on 8 January 2008 at 1.00pm GMT, the webcast is aimed at examining the myths and claims that surround Jatropha, as well as the long term outlook and issues that undermine the future viability of Jatropha. The issues raised will be based on real concerns and questions directed towards the panel of experts by subscribers themselves, so that the investors’ problems are addressed directly.
Contemporary trends across the world indicate a pronounced shift towards Jatropha as a more viable and sustainable feedstock for Biodiesel compared to other food based crops, and while investment in the crop is increasing exponentially, there still remain many who inflate and perpetuate myths about the crop, and in turn undermine the promise of this crop by reducing its credibility in the eye of the investor.
At the webcast, subscribers will be able to hear from Dr. Sudheer Shetty, who is one of the experts speaking at JATROPHAWORLD 2008. Dr. Shetty is the Chairman and MD of Labland Biodiesel Company which is focused on Jatropha-based biodiesel activities. The company has been recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, India, for carrying out tissue culture work on Jatropha.
The webcast will be moderated by Dr. R. Rajagopal author of the position paper ‘Sustainable Biodiesel Feedstock. Jatropha: A Strategic Option’. Dr. Raj will also welcome feedback and questions about his position paper at the webcast.
Those interested in Jatropha and biofuels are encouraged to register for the Free webcast “Debunking the Myths of Jatropha” at http://www.futureenergyevents.com/jatrophawebcast/. The answers that the Webcast endeavors to answer and other questions will be expanded on at JatrophaWorld 2008.
The JatrophaWorld 2008 organizer, Centre for Management Technology (CMT), has brought together the best expertise and brightest brains to discuss and analyze the present and future dynamics of Jatropha. The companies represented include Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute of Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology, Singapore’s Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, Malaysia’s Asiatic Centre for Genomic Technologies Sdn. Bhd., the Indonesian Center for Estate Crops Research & Development (ICERD) as well as India’s Naturol Bioenergy Limited and Labland Biodiesel Private Limited.
Delegates will be able to expand their knowledge about Jatropha and alternative energy and also network with the crème de la crème of the Jatropha industry.
JatrophaWorld 2008 is going to be the most important conference of 2008 for those who want to keep abreast of the latest developments in the agriculture, processing, socio-economics and financing of Jatropha as an alternative energy source. Got something to say?

It’s a really good move to discuss about jatropha after doing so much research on it. but withoug government’s support it is very difficult for the farmers to go for it because of it’s low yields. farmers are not at all showing interest to grow jatropha.
Solomon Island is one of the latest area where Jatropha is newly cultivated. It is not planted as hedge or fence but rather in small areas of (one) hector to three (3) Hectors some five (5) hectors. When planting for seed garden it took seven months to fruit and fruits ripen at 9 months.
From instruction we were instructed that it will fruit after 11 months and harvested after mor than 12 months. However it seems that its fruits appear 4 months before due time.
Now that we spreading the plant to other Provinces we would like to know more about the markets that are available for both Jatropha Carcus seeds and Jatropha oils.
We would also like to know where to get machines for Jatropha oil production.
Your enlightenment is gratefully appreciated.
Thank you
I am interested in the Out come of the comference/ Papers presented. Kindly send to me such papers to broaden my knowledge on Jatropha Curcas and to promote It in Africa.
