NoriTech Seaweed Biotechnologies Ltd. is an Israeli start-up incorporated in January 2000 under the framework of Israel Chief Scientist’s Technological Incubators program, and is based on 15 years of research made in the Israel. NoriTech is focused on the production of the Porphyra (Nori) seaweed, the most valuable commercial seaweed, derived from land-based, scalable, artificial ponds, using proprietary, cost effective technology. NoriTech is a subsidiary of Seaweed Bio-Technology Incorporated (SBTI), a Delaware corporation, based in New-York, USA.

NoriTech technology provides a broad platform for Nori in the following markets: Food, Functional Foods, Nutraceuticals, Animal Nutrition, Cosmecauticals, Pharmaceuticals and Dyes and Pigments.

NoriTech, through its daughter company Green Gold Algae and Seaweed Sciences Inc. (GGASS), is working on utilizing seaweed as biomass for ethanol production. GGASS is utilizing NoriTech’s accumulated knowledge and macro-algae growing techniques, including enhancing growth by “boosting” the growing with CO2, to cost-effectively grow macro-algae biomass, for conversion mainly into bio-ethanol.

Speaker Profile
Chief Executive Officer of NoriTech Seaweed Biotechnologies Ltd, Mr. Alex Harel holds a BA degree in Science and Economics and an M.A. degree in Labor Studies.  He served for 21 years in the Israel Air Force at various senior positions. Mr. Harel founded and managed several starts-up companies in Israel mainly in life-science, and since 2003 he is the CEO of NoriTech. In 2007 Mr. Harel initiated the bio-fuel activities of NoriTech, and established Green Gold Algae and Seaweed Sciences Inc. as its biofuel arm.
