Speaker Profile: Michael Wild, CEO, Ebes AG
Sep 22nd
Michael Wild, economist and engineer by education, is active in renewable energies for practically all of his 20+ years professional career.
He started as a consultant in Austria where he was involved in building energy advisory services in the mid 80s, with focus in Energy Saving, Renewable energy in Building and Heating sectors and from the late 80s pioneered the use of biomass based district heating systems in Austria.
With the fall of the iron curtain he started consulting decision makers in Hungary and Czechoslovakia which led to his nomination as director of the EU Commissions Energy Centre in Slovakia from 93 to 99. He is involved in B2B projects in the energy sector, mostlyin the renewable field, and also in parallel consulting World Bank and IFC in energy related projects.
He gained the experience that Biomass projects did fail almost never on technical or financial problems but mostly on the security of biomass supply. With this he started as early as 1997 to build a first simple “information turntables” for biomass trading which lead in 1999 to the establishment of ABEX, the very first web based trading platform for Biomass. Seeing still insufficient move on the biomass market he lead ABEX and its successor EBES AG into regional/interregional large scale trading of biomasses implementing the first transcontinental supply schemes from Asia to Europe by this creating on both ends a market for Palm Kernel Shell as energy carrier establishing it as a new energy commodity.
Today he is developing EBES step by step into an integrated bioenergy supply company. First upstream projects are implemented in Ukraine and Poland where local straw is pelletised and supplied to power plants. Current main focus is the implementation of the EBES lead ACB torrefaction technology and building of integrated supply chains based on this revolutionary biogenic fuel.

Speaker Profile: Joseph Lim Heng Ee, Managing Director, Global Green Synergy Sdn. Bhd
Sep 22nd
Joseph Lim is the Founder and Managing Director of Global Green Synergy Sdn Bhd (GGS). He has started involved in Palm-based biomass since early 2000, where he exporting the dried long EFB fiber (DLF) to China.
Through his experience in the industry, he realized that this trade has huge potential to further develop itself in Malaysia through advance technology. Malaysia is one of the largest producers of palm oil in the world, therefore making it one country with the abundance of biomass.
With a heart on environmental protection, Mr. Joseph Lim established GGS. From there, GGS has gone beyond than a DLF trader. GGS has invested in R&D for advancement technology on palm-based biomass, converting the waste into value-added products.
Joseph Lim is also actively involved in various chambers of commerce. He is nominated as Treasure for National Committee of Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC); he also nominated as Chairman in MCCC Youth Wing. Further, he is a member for The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Malaysia (ACCCIM) international Trade and Industry committee. Early 2010, he was appointed to lead a Green Technology Sub-committee.
