"How to Effectively Reduce Co2 Levels? Carbon World Doha 2009 Spotlights Companies, Countries, Governments And Answers in One Setting."
As the global economic crisis takes precedence
in governmental initiatives, climate change caused by
CO2 emissions remains one if not “the” most serious challenges facing the world.

Carbon World Doha 2009, scheduled April 26-28 in Doha, Qatar, will provide a platform to address vital carbon dioxide emissions reduction strategies and spotlight initiatives by Qatar and other GCC countries to reduce their carbon footprint as they advance toward a low carbon economy.
Studies show CO2 emissions on the increase
Although faced with evidence that CO2 emissions have exacerbated global warming, carbon dioxide emissions have increased. According to data collected by Frances Moore of Earth Policy Institute, CO2 emissions grew 3.1% from 2000 to 2006.
Without confronting global warming, carbon dioxide emissions could increase two-fold between 2000 and 2030. At this rate, it would be impossible to avoid an increase of 3 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial temperatures. Less than a 2-degree increase would cause dangerous climate change.
Action must be taken now to reduce global CO2 emissions.
Forging ahead to decrease CO2 emissions
In this time of economic uncertainty, reduction of carbon dioxide emissions remains at the forefront of governmental agendas.
U.S. President Barack Obama wants to affect a cap-and-trade program to reduce CO2 emissions to 1990 levels by the year 2020, with an additional 80% cut by 2050.
During a video prepared for a climate-change summit in California, President Obama stated, “My presidency will mark a new chapter in America’s leadership on climate change that will strengthen our security and create millions of new jobs in the process.”
Both government and industry must be pro-active in reducing green house gases. The stakes are too high, the consequences too great.
