Jain Irrigation are manufacturers of Drip and Sprinkler Irrigation Systems and Components, PVC, Polyethylene (HDPE, MDPE) & Polypropylene Piping Systems, Plastic Sheets (PVC & PC sheets), Dehydrated Onions and Vegetables, Processed Fruits, Tissue Culture, Hybrid & Grafted Plants, Greenhouses, Poly and Shade Houses, Bio-fertilizers, Solar Water Heating Systems and Solar Photovoltaic Appliances (Solar lighting systems).

Initiated work on Jatropha since 2003 and till date established plantation on 84 ha under different soil types, topographic and irrigation conditions and also planted 5000 Karanj plants on farm boundaries and hill terraces. Established a Collection of 284 Jatropha curcas accessions and six Jatropha species from 13 Indian states and 6 other countries. Germplasm evaluation & selection and extensive hybridization (including interspecific) program aided with molecular markers are under way. Agronomic trials in Western and Southern India to determine planting density and systems, irrigation method & quantity, fertilizer and pruning requirements, identification and management of pest & diseases are in progress. Developed Tissue Culture protocol for commercial Jatropha micro propagation and performance evaluation trial of micropprogated plants is underway. Operating 7 kl/day capacity multi feed biodiesel pilot plant.

  1. #1. Abstract from Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd : Jatropha World 2008, December 4th, 2007

[...] Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd Jatropha curcas has emerged as a potential non-edible oil seed crop that can be used for biodiesel production. While the curcas species is endowed with several desirable characteristics its main constraints as an oilseed crop are its relatively poor yield and susceptibility to some of the diseases. At JISL we have undertaken systematic studies to improve the seed yields through agronomic and genetic improvements involving both inter and intra species hybridization using a collection of over 280 accessions from India and abroad. A commercial micropropagation protocol generating true to type plants has been standardized. Molecular analysis of the important accessions with a view to identify molecular markers to accelerate the breeding program is in progress. Various biochemical and physiological studies to identify constraints of the plant to translate its high biomass yielding ability into seed yield have been initiated. The presentation will describe the results obtained and discuss possible lines of action for future studies. [...]

What one can do to save our mother earth??

Genuinely, Jain Irrigation System Ltd. Has proved the above question with practical implementation.

It would give me an immense pleasure if someday I would have the opportunity to communicate with Dr. P.V. Sane.

    Dear Dr. P.V. Sane!
My name is Thinh Tran. I live in Vietnam country. I am now a final year student and study bioengineering at university of Agriculture & Forestry. At present, I am doing the graduation thesis about “mutagenesis by EMS (ethyl methanesulfonate) on Jatropha curcas seed” . Consequently, I would like to receive your document about “AFLP analysis for Jatropha curcas”, “genome of Jatropha curcas” for for my reference. Please send that document to me through the email: tranthinh_thucvat@yahoo.com. I thank you for your helping sincerely.
    Best wishes,
    Thinh Tran

    Bonjour ,

    Cordialement
