GEXSI is a UK charity, headquartered in London, with an additional office base in Berlin. It counts on a small, high-calibre staff, senior advisors with strong international development expertise, volunteers, and partner organizations around the world. In its current form, GEXSI has been operating since 2004.
GEXSI was launched originally in 2001, under the auspices of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship at the World Economic Forum in Davos, with private sector start-up sponsorship from Deutsche Bank, Foursome Investments, The Open Society Institute, Bain & Company, and subsequent public sector sponsorship also from the German Government (BMZ/GTZ).
GEXSI supports civil voluntary organizations (CVOs) with a range of professional services:
Networking – Through our extensive network of partner organizations, we link local Civil Voluntary Organizations (CVSs) and micro-entrepreneurs to like-minded partners and facilitate access to international markets, information and expertise.
Coaching – To assist CVOs in their development of sustainable business models, we provide technical expertise in business planning and investment structuring.
Financing - To assist CVOs in becoming independent of aid, we arrange for financing in accordance with their business development stage from philanthropic funds and below-market grants to fully-fledged commercial investment.
Speaker Profile
Thilo Zelt sits in the Biofuel Team of GEXSI. He is also the Founder and CEO of JSL Biofuels Madagascar. Mr Zelt has M.Sc. in Economics and Management (MEMS) at Humboldt University Berlin, with distinction, emphasis on Corporate Finance, Marketing, and Information Systems.
