I am 66 years old and have been involved in agriculture all of my working life. I have seen schemes like this before….Emus and ostrich for meat, Chinchillas and other animals for fur or meat, and many others than never made much business sense. Of course it makes sense for promoters, and politicians and those dependant on politicians for their job.
I have observed this for two years now. I see seed sellers, equipment sellers, obscure professors that are willing to put their name on this thing for exposure, and even lawyers getting in on it. What I don’t see is our own University of Florida PHD researches saying very much. (politics and funds)
I also have plants in the ground for about a year now. Without water and fertilizer they are doing poorly. With care they are better but it will be years before any production, it ever significant.
If you could even produce the seed—-then what? How are you going to harvest these small seed pods? You would be beholden to the processors and middlemen even if you could find the labor and equipment that would be required.
I see this as a big scam and urge folks to be very cautious!!!
Remember “If it sounds too good to be true, It probably is”

    Hi Mr. Paul,

Perhaps you might want to look at the following web page http://www.futureenergyevents.com/jatropha/2008/04/15/speaker-profile-fitzroy-b-beckford-agriculture-natural-resources-agent-university-of-florida-ifas-lee-county-extension/

Where you will see that the University of Florida is also on the program, talking about the competitiveness of Jatropha.

I truly regret your bad experience in Jatropha, and I wish to clarify here that JatrophaWorld Miami 2008 is not about scamming people, but informing them about the FACTs so that they can get good returns to their projects. We’re not claiming miracles, but we will directly address some of the issues your raised, including processing, harvesting and seed & oil yields.

Perhaps you would like to come to JatrophaWorld Miami 2008 and hear from successful project developers and scientists to guage for yourself if Jatropha is truly viable or not?

Do drop me an e-mail at divya@cmtsp.com.sg.

    Sincerely,

    Divya
    The JatrophaWorld Miami 2008 Team
