JatrophaWorld 2008 Hamburg Speaker
Day 2 – Tuesday, October 21
09:05 INNOVATIVE BIODIESEL

Overview of Presentation

  • The worldwide expansion of biodiesel markets requires sustainable supply of feedstock in volume, with optimum suitability and reasonable prices.
  • Non-food oilseeds are not in competition with food oilseeds for acreage and can be grown on marginal soils in semi-arid climatic zones at low cost.
  • Jatropha functions as the ‘flagship’ for a group of promising non-food oilseed plants with high potential for improved performance.
  • Targeted breeding of Jatropha and many other non-food oilseed plants is needed to establish an improved fatty acid profile at reasonable high yields and proven production guidelines in order to produce highly suitable oils for the high quality biodiesel.

JATROPHAWORLD 2008 is a showcase of all the latest trends and shifts occurring in the Jatropha value chain, bringing together on a single platform, the best expertise to discuss and analyze the present and future dynamics of Jatropha from a technological and socio-economic angle.
