Thanks to the feedback of Mr Joelle , Indian Railways Chennai has made several bright steps of progress during the tenure of Mr Jayasingh Chief works Manager Southern Railway Peramabur.we are in this industry from 2003 and Jatropha oil was used in our ancient temples as Divine lights since it does not emit carbon and you will see a beautuful flame...
Jatropha oil is used extensively by many popular brands of soap Industry.
if we want to replace Fossil oils we must convert our wasted lands not our food crop areas of Tanjore Belt, with Jatropha plantations.

now we are doing Plantations

The R&D staff of Indian Railways' biodiesel program at Perambur Loco Works in Chennai are the best source. They interviewed retired railway employees who had used Jatropha oil in locomotives and shop vehicles and have also done research on typical uses in village settings.

The British used Jatropha oil in generator sets for power generation and pumping, and after the Japanese occupied Burma and cut off India's petroleum access it was used in military and civilian motor vehicles. However the fact that it worked in the simpler diesel engines of those days doesn't necessarily mean that it will work in your modern high compression diesel engine. Rudolph Diesel designed his engines to burn straight peanut oil.

Good luck, and check with IR biodiesel guys at Perambur.

Can any one throw light on the fact that Jatropha oil is used as a substitute for high speed diesel oil in any country in th world. I can see volumes of reading material on how to grow it and what uses it has environmentally. But no one has reported its use in daily life. Surely a farmer can use it on his tractor or oil engines to draw water from the bore-well. Are there such reports?
