My interest is in small production units to be used in the villages to produce oil to run small diesels for posho milling, rice polishing, edible oil processing, etc. I would really be interested in finding a source of information to learn the requirements to produce 100 to 200 liters per day Jatropha oil.

Here in the Philippines Jatropha curcas exist more than 250 years ago and has been used as an household lights and herbal medicine and fences. Pouring in of foreign investment via Jatropha plantations will certainly change the denuded and unproductive lands of our region. The best impact that I can here is employment that Filipino doesn’t need to migrate somewhere to be employed. As I can see Jatropha needs manual labor in the next decade.

My strong contention is that the process of inviting investors into this type of land as define MARGINAL. Honestly speaking what the investors need is the ROI. Meaning the intention is to have excellent quality Fruits. Are we in the industry is expecting quality fruits coming from the marginal lands? So, big possibility of high input requirement needed.

At this point of view, more study and research and proper recommendations by the technocrats is just necessary.
