Oxbo International manufactures harvesting equipment for specialty agricultural products.  Many of these harvesters remove fruit from crops that are grown in tall rows, similar to jatropha.  Crops similar to jatropha for which we have harvesters include grapes, raspberries, blueberries, rose hip, coffee and currants.  Oxbo also produces a line of equipment designed to shape and prune woody crops, like jatropha.  These pruners can be mounted to Oxbo mobile equipment or attached to a tractor.  Oxbo has three manufacturing facilities in the United States.  Oxbo distributes it product through over 50 dealers locations and seven company owned distribution centers.  Innovation, Integrity and Customer Service make up the core values of the company.

Overview of Presentation
Oxbo has a harvester designed for harvesting jatropha.  The harvester uses technology developed in other small fruit crops similar to jatropha.  Oxbo has been testing a variety of methods of removing ripe jatropha from the tree.  Testing has shown that ripe fruit can be harvested while leaving green fruit on the plant.  Once harvested the fruit is conveyed, cleaned, and then either stored in the machine or further conveyed into a trailer in the next row.  This trailer travels with the harvester and is capable of removing the crop quickly from the field.  When planning for machine harvest the grower must consider row spacings, headland area, and plant density.  All of these will affect the harvester’s ability to selectively remove, and collect ripe fruit.
