Viridesco Ltd, is a UK-based biofuel company focused on the production and local distribution of pure plant oil (PPO) as a diesel substitute in the developing world, using Jatropha as an oil-yielding feedstock. Viridesco produces a highly price-competitive biofuel alternative to imported oil and gas, benefiting from a low cost of production in the developing world and avoiding the cost of conversion to biodiesel. This is achieved by using PPO with Elsbett engine conversion technology with diesel engines. The company aims to serve local developing world demand, targeting large-scale consumers with a cheaper and cleaner alternative to diesel fuel. Viridesco’s first project is at Eagle farm, near Lichinga, northern Mozambique. The project is 4 years old and 200 hectares in size.
